Southeast Officer Involved Shooting - Dog NRF008-20bm

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department's understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

Los Angeles:
Los Angeles Police Department's Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting involving a dog in Southeast Division.

On March 8, 2020, around 12:11 p.m., Southeast Area officers responded to a radio call of "Vicious Animals" in the 10000 block of Wilmington Avenue. While at scene, one officer was attacked and bitten by a vicious dog, resulting in an OIS. The dog was not struck by gunfire and fled the scene. Police Officer II Wenceslao Chamu, Serial No. 43036, Southeast Area, was transported to a local hospital, where she received medical treatment and was released.

LAPD's specialized Force Investigation Division responded to the scene and is handling the investigation.
