On February 7, 1996 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the victim was at the McDonald's restaurant on the northwest corner of Temple Street and Alvarado Street. The victim became involved in a dispute with "Temple Street" gang members. Suspect Ruiz produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.
