Fatal Hit and Run in Rampart Area NR20310wc
Los Angeles: On Monday, December 7, 2020, around 6:35 a.m., a 29-year-old motorcyclist riding a 2003 Yamaha 600R, was killed following a hit and run traffic collision in Rampart Area. The collision occurred when the driver of a passenger van made an illegal U-turn directly in the path of the motorcyclist on Glendale Boulevard, just south of Reservoir Street. The driver of the van stopped briefly then fled southbound from the scene and failed to identify himself or render aid as required by law.Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The motorcyclist's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Video surveillance cameras in the area captured the hit and run
vehicle fleeing the scene. The vehicle is described as a late
1990's to early 2000 Chevy Astro van. The van is customized and
red or maroon in color. There is no driver description at this
time.
Drivers are reminded to drive at a safe speed and if you become
involved in a collision, you should pull over and stop as soon as
it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the
scene to identify yourself.
