Cause of Death: Shot by a Forgery Suspect
Bio: Det. Sgt. Monaghan and two Officers responded
to a forgery suspect call at a Sears department store. As the three
Officers entered the security office the suspect immediately stood
up and drew a pistol. The suspect shoots Det. Sgt. Monaghan and
Ofcr Endler inside the security office killing both of them. As the
suspect exits the security office he also engages a third Police
Officer shoot and seriously injuring him. A Sears security guard
also attempts to stop the suspect and is also shot and critically
wounded. The suspect escaped to Chicago Il, but was later arrested
for another murder.
